Ce chemisier qui m’a émue…

Non loin du Trocadéro, ce chemisier m'a arrêtée net au Palais Galliéra 🇫🇷🪡
Porté le 25 août 1944 , le jour de la Libération de Paris, par sa donatrice, ce chemisier raconte à lui seul toute une époque : croix de Lorraine, drapeaux français, américain et britannique, coquelicots, bleuets, marguerites… Chaque symbole brodé est un fragment d'histoire.
Commencée au point de chaînette pendant l'Occupation, la broderie a été achevée le jour même de la Libération par Mme Legris, qui y a ajouté « Victoire 1944 » et « Vive Leclerc ».
Les inscriptions en rouge et bleu font écho à la guerre de 14-18, et des extraits de chants français et anglais viennent compléter ce témoignage bouleversant de la broderie comme geste patriotique.

Near Trocadéro, a blouse that stopped me in my tracks at the museum Galliera 🇫🇷🪡
Worn on 25 August 1944, the day of the Liberation of Paris, by its donor, this piece tells a story all on its own: cross of Lorraine, French, American and British flags, poppies, cornflowers, daisies… every embroidered symbol is a fragment of history.
Begun in chain stitch during the Occupation, the embroidery was finished on the very day of the Liberation by Mrs Legris, who added ‘Victoire 1944’ and ‘Vive Leclerc’.
The red and blue inscriptions echo the 1914–18 war, and extracts from French and English songs complete this moving testimony to embroidery as an act of patriotism.
